Job Duties
Read and interpret blueprints, drawings and construction plans.
Measure, cut and assemble wood, engineered wood and other framing materials.
Construct floor systems, walls, roof structures and building frameworks.
Install floor joists, roof trusses and wall panels.
Ensure all framing work complies with Alberta building codes and safety regulations.
Operate hand and power tools safely.
Repair and renovate wooden structures when required.
Maintain a clean and safe worksite.
Work collaboratively with project supervisors and other trades.
Employment Requirements
Secondary school completion is preferred.
Completion of a carpentry apprenticeship or at least 2–3 years of framing/carpentry experience.
Experience in residential wood framing is an asset.
Ability to read construction drawings.
Physically fit and able to lift heavy materials.
Knowledge of workplace safety procedures.
