Position Overview

KafaCraft is seeking an experienced, passionate Specialty Barista who is committed to delivering exceptional coffee and memorable customer experiences. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys dialing in espresso, perfecting milk texture, exploring manual brewing techniques, and sharing coffee knowledge with guests.

What You'll Do
Prepare consistently excellent espresso-based beverages to specialty coffee standards.
Dial in espresso throughout the day and adjust grind settings to maintain optimal extraction.
Steam milk with excellent texture and create clean, consistent latte art.
Prepare manual brew coffee (V60, Chemex, AeroPress, Pour Over, French Press, and batch brew) following KafaCraft recipes.
Educate customers about Ethiopian coffee origins, processing methods, roast profiles, and flavor notes.
Deliver warm, genuine, and professional customer service.
Maintain a clean, organized, and efficient workspace.
Operate and maintain espresso machines, grinders, and brewing equipment.
Monitor coffee quality and communicate any issues with extraction or equipment.
Restock supplies and assist with inventory management.
Follow Alberta Food Safety standards and all café operating procedures.
Support teammates during busy periods and contribute to a positive team culture.
Qualifications
Minimum 1 year of specialty coffee or café experience preferred.
Strong knowledge of espresso extraction, milk steaming, and coffee preparation.
Experience with manual brewing methods is an asset.
Ability to adjust recipes based on coffee performance.
Passion for coffee, hospitality, and continuous learning.
Friendly, outgoing, and customer-focused personality.
Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
Able to multitask in a fast-paced environment.
Food Safe Certification is an asset.
Preferred Skills
Latte art proficiency (heart, tulip, rosetta).
Understanding of coffee origins, processing methods, and cupping.
Experience using commercial espresso equipment (Victoria Arduino Eagle One, La Marzocco, Slayer, Synesso, etc.).
Experience with POS systems such as Lightspeed or Clover.
Knowledge of coffee grinder calibration and routine equipment maintenance.
