Job description:
We are seeking a dedicated and hardworking Laborer to join our construction team for a municipal annual road maintenance program in central Alberta. The ideal candidate will assist with various construction projects, including paving and heavy equipment operation, contributing to the successful completion of projects while maintaining a safe and efficient work environment. This role offers an opportunity to gain hands-on experience in the construction industry and develop valuable skills for future career growth.

Must be available end of May and beginning of June 2026.

Responsibilities:
Assist with the operation of heavy equipment such as loaders, excavators, and bulldozers under supervision
Support paving activities, including preparing surfaces and laying materials as directed
Perform general construction tasks such as digging, lifting, carrying, and material handling
Maintain a clean and organized work site to ensure safety and efficiency
Follow all safety protocols and procedures to prevent accidents and injuries
Collaborate with team members to meet project deadlines and quality standards
Assist with site setup and cleanup at the beginning and end of each workday

Preferred Experience (not required)
Flagger (traffic control)
Heavy equipment operator
Crack sealing
Paving

Experience or familiarity with heavy equipment operation is preferred but not required; training will be provided

Knowledge of paving techniques and construction practices is a plus
Ability to perform physically demanding tasks in various weather conditions
Strong work ethic, reliability, and attention to safety protocols
Good communication skills and ability to work well within a team
Willingness to learn new skills and take on diverse responsibilities on-site

Requirements:
Valid driver's license (Class 5 minimum)
Steel-toed boots
Reliable transportation to central Alberta job sites
Flexibility for short-notice shifts (0–60 hours per week, varies)
