For sale is an antique quarter-sawn oak wood music cabinet with beveled mirror (circa 1900). Quarter-sawn oak music cabinets became popular during the late Victorian and Edwardian periods, roughly from the 1890s through the 1920s. These cabinets were specifically designed to store sheet music, which was a common household item during an era when home entertainment centered around piano playing and singing. The quarter-sawn technique produces a distinctive tiger-stripe or ray-fleck pattern in the oak, which was highly prized for its beauty and durability.

Music cabinets like this one appeal to antique furniture collectors, music enthusiasts, and interior designers who appreciate period pieces with both aesthetic and functional value. The combination of practical storage with decorative elements like the beveled mirror and ornate hardware makes these pieces desirable for those furnishing homes in Victorian or Arts and Crafts styles. Collectors particularly value examples with original hardware and well-preserved quarter-sawn oak figuring.

Approximate measurements: 38.5”H (measured to the top of the beveled mirror) X 17.75”W X 13.25”D. Presented in ORIGINAL condition (wear consistent with age and use). A beautiful statement piece with brass hardware that can function as storage for your vinyl record collection, sheet music, or other papers and books.

Offered for sale at $185 (or best offer).
