Parents needed for paid mental health research study
Description
We are currently recruiting parents for a study called ADAPT, testing a virtual group parenting program for parents of kids aged 6-11 who are dealing with big emotions, defiance, and behaviour challenges. The treatment runs entirely online, so you can join from home (note that there is one in-person research visit prior to treatment).
What's involved:
• One in-person session with you and your child at the OISE Psychology Clinic to complete questionnaires and study related tasks. This will take approximately one hour.
• Random assignment to one of two no-cost, 10–12 week, virtual, evidence-based parenting programs led by trained clinicians, with brief weekly research measures.
• Follow-up questionnaires after the program and again at 6 months.
Who we're looking for
• Parents/caregivers of a child aged 6-11
• Parents/caregivers aged 18 years or older experiencing low mood or stress
• Living in Toronto or the GTA
How it works: Participants are randomly assigned to one of two programs. One is a new approach we're testing, and the other is the Incredible Years Parenting Program, which is well established and widely used. Either way, you'd receive a structured, evidence-based program at no cost. You will be compensated for your participation in the research tasks.
Compensation: Participants will be compensated with gift cards for completion of research components.
Happy to answer questions in the comments or by DM. You can also reach the team at childbehaviourlab.oise@utoronto.ca.
Thanks for reading, and no pressure at all if it's not for you. Feel free to pass it along to a parent who might be interested!
(Approved by the University of Toronto Research Ethics Board)
