Key Responsibilities
Diagnostics & Troubleshooting: Connect diagnostic software (e.g., Cummins Insite, Volvo PTT, Detroit DDDL) to read fault codes and troubleshoot electrical, hydraulic, mechanical, fuel, and emission control systems (DPF/DEF). 
Preventative Maintenance (PM): Perform routine servicing including oil and filter changes, grease jobs, fluid flushes, safety inspections, and tire rotations. 
Mechanical Repairs & Overhauls: Disassemble, repair, and rebuild engines, transmissions, differentials, air brake systems, steering, suspensions, and cooling units. 
Regulatory Compliance: Conduct safety checks and annual vehicle inspections to ensure equipment meets DOT / Ministry of Transportation road safety standards. 
Documentation & Work Orders: Accurately track labor hours, parts used, and repair details using fleet management software or paper work orders. 
Emergency Roadside Service: Respond to field service calls and break-downs when assigned. 
Requirements & Qualifications
Education & Trade Licensing:
High school diploma or equivalent. 
Completion of an apprenticeship program or formal vocational training in Diesel/Heavy Duty Equipment Technology. 
Licensed Journeyperson designation (e.g., 310T / 421A in Canada, Red Seal, or ASE Diesel Certifications in the US) is strongly preferred or required depending on seniority.
Experience: 2–5 years of practical experience working on commercial trucks (Class 6–8), trailers, buses, or heavy construction/agricultural equipment. 
Driver's License: Valid Commercial Driver's License (CDL Class A/B or local equivalent) to test-drive vehicles. 
Tools: Possession of a personal hand and air tool set.
