wo of two, this is a very nice Globe Wernicki Quarter Sawn (Tiger) Oak slant front desk unit with two cupboard doors, all in excellent condition. The slant front desk opens to reveal a large desk organizer with many cubby holes of various sizes and two small drawers. A full-length drawer is immediately below the desk unit, followed by a large oak fronted doors (bookcase doors) and followed by another full-length drawer at the very bottom. This desk unit is a very practical and functional piece of furniture that is hard to find. Circa 1930’s.

Measures 34 inches wide, 19 inches deep at the deepest point, and 12” deep at the top… and 44 inches tall. Desk interior has 2 drawers, pigeon holes and cubby holes. Drop down desk (when lowered) measures 32”wide X 32”deep. The drop-down desk hinge mechanism works exactly as it should.

Globe Wernicke is legendary for its modular, stacking "barrister" bookcases, and they occasionally designed specialized desk segments (like this one) to stack perfectly into those modular configurations using their standard interlocking metaL side straps.

Standard Globe Wernicke glass-front bookcase sections are relatively common. The ones with a slant-front desk like this one are harder to find. The tiger oak figuring on the side panels is distinct, crisp, and beautifully high-contrasted. It has been restored professionally and not used since.

Offered for sale at $795. This is one of two in our inventory… both are identical except one has a glass section below the desk, and the other one (this one) has two doors under the desk as shown in the pictures. See the last picture for the one with the glass window under the desk section.
