27 y.o man looking for activity/arts & crafts friends!

Description
Hello!

My name is Tyson, and I am a 27 year-old man.

I am relatively new to the City of Calgary

I am sober, friendly, generally easy-going and have a bright and inquisitive mind.

I am currently looking to make some friends and acquaintances that would like to do arts and crafts work together at my place, their place and/or somewhere comfortable and safe. I would also like to do small community clean up projects and adventures of that sort. This would be after discussing, meeting up in a public space, and getting to know each other a bit first.

I think it could be a good step forward for me to try making some friends based on healthy, productive common interests, such as arts & crafts. I am also really into sports, nutrition and fitness, and would be receptive to offering and receiving support in that field as well.

What I am looking for:

-I need someone I can trust to be sober, and always treasure the opportunity to keep the company of honest, kindly people.

-Someone mature and dedicated to improving themselves artistically and creatively.

-Open-minded and considerate; I am just testing the waters here, as I would like to try something new to make friends and get new experiences networking. I am not looking to argue or debate with people either, but am still receptive to challenges, learning and growth.

-Is looking for a wholesome and safe atmosphere. I do not want or need more drugs and alcohol around me, I already take public transit, and that is more than enough... I also don't need any bullies, perves or general creepy, menacing characters around.

-This is going to be that hardest one. No social media. I mean no scrolling TikTok reels or YouTube shorts, or snapchatting, etc. You can contact your friends, family and loved ones, as well as stay in touch with work, or whatever. You can answer phone calls and texts, whether you step outside to do it or not! I do not mind whatsoever. But no social media. I am not meeting with people so they can stare at their phones. I use a flip-phone, and do not have any socials beyond e-mail and OKz.ca. I do this so I can give you, my hobbies, my work and my life my FULL ATTENTION. This way I stay engaged, present, clear and most importantly; calm.

-You can do whatever art you like/love/feel comfortable with, and I am completely open to trying out your favorite art, learning new ones, and learning skills to bridge/connect our types and styles of arts and crafts.

A little bit about me (Feel free to skim it or whatever):

I am a twenty-seven year old man, I have lots of different work experiences, and am currently pursuing work as a construction laborer and landscaper. My hope is to pursue horticulture and related fields as well as building design and construction. I would like to build integrated green spaces from the ground-up, and convert abandoned buildings into them as well. Doing hybrid green space/ live-in spaces is something that intrigues me greatly. I also want to eventually travel the world and continue learning different languages.

I practice sketching and pencil art doing graffiti art, landscape art, high fantasy stuff (portals, castles, funny little optical illusions, etc), and generally drawing semi-realistic art of whatever inspires me. I like to write positive messages in graffiti, and love drawing stylized poetry. My landscape art is inspired by learning how the material plane functions on a natural level, and how to express my understanding into art. I find it beneficial for my mental health to draw mountains, rivers, trees, rocks, etc. I do not vandalize or damage people properties, by graffiti I am talking about the underground art of using stylized fonts to bring a picture-like life to written words. I also like to arrange rocks, sticks, dirt, snow, etc. outdoors to make cool little landscape art. There is other stuff I am sure, but whatever, onto crafts.

I like to do little woodworking and joinery crafts, like building paniers, benches and repairing furniture and stuff like that (hammer nails/drill screws). I have a deep respect for the skills of mending, sewing and general needle-and-thread work, and I practice it myself. I am very experienced in cleaning, organizing, identifying materials and working with all sorts of hazards. I am just learning to glue stuff together properly using different glues, use a mechanical stapler to build and reinforce structures, and learn and apply the skills that make up a skilled craftsman. I am just getting into sanding down stones by hand, and would like to pull out my rotary-tool and mouse-sander.

For sports and activities I like to; bike, hike, run, climb, swim, workout, do yoga, stretch and play casual sports.

I also meditate regularly, in case anyone is interested in that.

I keep a clean, cozy, well decorated home with a calm atmosphere and love to prepare snacks, food and yummy, healthy beverages for anybody to enjoy.

That is, I feel, more than enough, and I thank you for your consideration and time in reading this.

I have made this advertisement as an experiment, and hopefully I am not the only one to benefit from the effort.

Please do contact me if you feel we might 'click' or get along well, have the potential for a healthy friendship, or make productive 'study buddies' as it will.

I look forward to hearing from you all :)

Best wishes!

-Tyson
