Discon & Horseshoe: two BC mineral claim applications sold together, Vancouver Mining Division. Title 1136997 Discon (165.85 ha) and title 1140206 Horseshoe (82.91 ha), total 248.76 ha. Both titles are still in application and are not yet issued.
Location: lower west slope of Mount Sproatt, on the north side of Highway 99 at Callaghan Creek, about 8.5 km west of Whistler. NTS 092J/03.
Approx. claim centres: Discon 50.0858, -123.0779; Horseshoe 50.0957, -123.0700
Access: Highway 99 runs along the south side of the Discon claim, then an old logging road climbs onto the claims. Forest service road 9282 crosses the upper ground. A park boundary forms the west edge of the titles, and part of the ground lies inside the Highway 99 mineral reserve (Order in Council 2659/70).
Geology: the claims cover the Discon prospect, also known as Disc and Les (MINFILE 092JW023). Copper±silver quartz veins and polymetallic veins in Lower Cretaceous Gambier Group volcanic and sedimentary rocks of the Callaghan Creek roof pendant. The mineralization is in shear zones in phyllitic argillite and intrusive rocks, with pyrite, pyrrhotite, chalcopyrite, argentite, bornite and covellite. It is found over widths of 2 to 3 m inside a 15 m wide shear zone, exposed for at least 25 m along an old logging road. The shear strikes 320 degrees and dips steeply east. Horseshoe lies north of the Discon shear zone.
Price and terms: $95,000 CAD for both titles, 100%, outright sale, no royalty. The titles are not sold separately. Because both titles are still in application, no deposit is taken and no transaction takes place until they are issued. Once both show as issued on Mineral Titles Online, a $1,000 non-refundable deposit is invoiced by Square and the $94,000 balance goes by wire within 3 business days, followed by the Mineral Titles Online transfer. The buyer pays the government transfer fees.
