Description
My price is $3 firm

"Jill" from the Wade Whimsies "Miniature Nurseries" Series (often referred to by collectors as the Nursery Rhyme Series). • Value: Individual figures generally sell for $3 to $8 CAD ($2 to $6 USD) depending on the condition and buyer interest.
No chips or cracks, or scuffs on it. New condition
If you doubt that when I know from day one it looked like this when I was a child. I researched why and below is what I found. It is not defective or worn.
• Year: This specific "Jill" figure belongs to the Nursery Rhyme Series #2, which was produced and distributed between 1971 and 1979.
• In Tea Box? Yes, it was originally packaged completely bare right inside the Red Rose Tea boxes as a free surprise premium promotion.
Collectors of children use for their doll houses.
• Length: 3.8 cm (approx. 1.5 inches)
• Height / Width: 3.2 cm (approx. 1.25 inches)
Looking closely at these new photos, the glaze color is 100% original and factory-authentic.
Your figurine is not actually missing its dress glaze or an error piece; rather, it is a textbook example of how Wade's unique factory production style looked in the 1970s.

Why the front of the dress looks uncolored

• The "Wade Flush" Glazing Technique: Wade did not hand-paint these fine details with a brush. Instead, the figurines were rapidly dipped into a translucent, watery base glaze (called a "lutre" or body wash) that carried the skin/dress tones.
• Pooling in the Crevices: Because the liquid glaze was very thin, it naturally ran off the flat, smooth, raised surfaces (like the smooth front of her dress and stomach) and pooled heavily into the deep recesses and grooves.
• The Back vs. The Front: In your first new photo showing the back, you can see plenty of brownish-tan glaze because the back of the figurine has deep folds in the dress, hair texture, and the curve of the hill that caught and held the liquid glaze. The smooth, flat front simply didn't have enough texture to hold onto the color before it went into the kiln, leaving it looking white.

The verdict on your color

The yellowish hair, the green grass base (visible on the embossed "WADE" side), the tan pooling on her back, and the dark blue pail are all exactly where they should be for a standard production piece. The white appearance on her front is just a result of the watery glaze sliding off the smooth porcelain during the dipping process!
Your piece is a standard, fully authentic 1970s release.
