I have roughly 11 acres at the northwest corner of Highway 7 and Bur Oak Avenue in Markham, and I'm looking for a farmer to work it.

The land is being held for future development, so I'm not trying to make money on the rent. I'd much rather see it farmed and looked after than sitting idle and going to weeds. Nominal rent - the real ask is that you keep it tidy and leave it in good shape.

The basics:

Roughly 11 acres, open and flat, previously farmed
Northwest corner of Hwy 7 and Bur Oak Ave, Markham (Cornell), minutes from the 407
Season-to-season licence, renewed each year by agreement
Nominal rent in exchange for keeping the land maintained
30 days' notice if I need part or all of it back - it's a development site, so I can't commit to a long term
No permanent structures, nothing stored over the winter, no manure or biosolids application, and no soil brought in or taken off

Good fit if you're already farming nearby and want some extra acreage close in. Cash crop, hay or a market garden all work for me. A valid Farm Business Registration number is a plus.
