This is an older style of stand which is no longer made. The newer one (made with much thinner wood framing) holds only 4 wide for a total of 48 spools. This one holds 6 spools width wise for a total of 72 spools. You can store skeins directly on the shafts with no need to transfer to the spools (shown) or for transferring pre-measured lengths onto the spools for a project or for supplemental warp weaving. Functionally, this is in excellent shape but it's old and shows patina on the wood. Nothing wears out on this kind of item. The second item is a 'temple' used to assist you in keeping your salvages straight. This is especially useful when doing wide 'projects'. The width is 28" and it will expand to 47".
