My name is Irena, and I am currently a teacher at a private school in Winnipeg. I am an experienced Grade 1 teacher offering personalized, one-on-one reading tutoring for young learners in the St. James area of Winnipeg.

My teaching experience includes working with the Heggerty Phonemic Awareness program, which focuses on developing essential early literacy skills and building a strong foundation for reading.

Individualized support can include:

• Phonemic awareness based on Heggerty strategies
• Letter recognition and letter sounds
• Phonics, sounding out, and blending
• Reading simple words, sentences, and early books
• Sight-word recognition
• Early spelling and writing skills
• Reading fluency and comprehension
• Building confidence and a positive attitude toward reading

Every child learns at their own pace. Tutoring sessions are tailored to your child’s current reading level, individual needs, and learning style, using engaging and age-appropriate activities.

My goal is not only to strengthen your child’s reading skills, but also to help them feel successful, confident, and excited about learning to read.
