I recovered all these relics with a metal detector on farmland in Ontario’s Durham Region this past spring. I cleaned and stabilized the iron and brass pieces in a Lortone 45C professional rock tumbler to remove rust. Everything shown is included for one price; I’ll describe each item below. Please do not ask to purchase items separately. I’ll also include photos taken before and after tumbling. These items have all been finished with a Museum-quality Conservators Wax to prevent rusting, although they will darken with age now that the metal is exposed to the air.

The collection includes two early blacksmith-made horseshoes; early cast and handmade iron horse-harness buckles; and two early 19th-century ox shoes. Oxen pulled plows and wagons on early Ontario farms before horses became readily available. I also found a complete harness rein-guide frame with its brass loops, which would have been mounted on top of a horse harness rig. **I’m also including two additional early blacksmith-made horseshoes and an early harness chain. I’ll post photos taken before and after tumbling.
