Well below cost. This wheelchair lift is rare to find, as it cannot be purchased locally. It was custom-built in the USA. Since we purchased it, prices have risen further, and National Seating and Mobility said it is valued at $24G (before installation). The stairlift was professionally installed, but was never used as the person it was made for (at his OT's request) passed away before the installation was complete. The wheelchair user rolls on and off without the user needing a caregiver to transfer them, as with a traditional chair-style lift, saving the backs of caregivers, and providing more personal independence for the user. It is safer than a chairlift for people with epilepsy. The platform folds up against the wall when not in use, so the stairs can be climbed by others as ususal. When the main platform is lowered for use, a set of small loading ramps unfold around the base of the main platform to enable the wheelchair to roll up onto the platform. When in operation, the small ramps fold up to prevent the wheelchair from rolling off, and a metal-bar cage, comes down around the rider's upper body for safety. Manufactured by ATLAS, 101 Mobility. National Seating & Mobility (PH: 825-205-9549) did the installation. If you want it professionally removed, they will uninstall it for $1,500 and reinstall it in your home for $3000. This is below our cost and significantly less than if you buy new and have it installed at the new prices. The lift is located in the NW of Calgary.
