Volunteer with Boxing Manitoba!

Description
Amateur boxing is one of the world's most accessible and inclusive sports. It welcomes participants of all ages, backgrounds, and socioeconomic circumstances, providing an opportunity for people to develop fitness, confidence, discipline, perseverance, and resilience in a safe and structured environment.

At Boxing Manitoba, we believe boxing is more than a sport. It is a vehicle for personal growth, community connection, and positive change. Our clubs provide opportunities for athletes ranging from those stepping into a gym for the first time to high-performance competitors representing Manitoba and Canada at the national and international level.

As we continue to grow, we are seeking passionate, community-minded individuals to join our Board of Directors or volunteer committees and help shape the future of amateur boxing in Manitoba.

We are looking for experienced professionals who are interested in contributing their knowledge and leadership in one or more of the following areas:
● Finance
● Governance, Legal and Compliance
● Risk Management
● Strategic Planning
● Operations
● Information Technology
● Marketing and Communications
● Fundraising and Sponsorship
● Stakeholder and Community Relations
● Government Relations
● Indigenous Relations
● Safe Sport and Integrity
● Boxing Technical Expertise (World Boxing/Boxing Canada)
● Technical Community Experience (Coaches, Officials and Athletes)
● Human Resources and Leadership

Previous boxing experience is welcomed but is not required for many board positions. We value diverse perspectives and encourage applications from individuals with professional expertise who want to make a meaningful contribution to amateur sport in Manitoba.

Our Board meets every two weeks, with meetings typically lasting 60 to 90 minutes. Directors are covered by Directors' and Officers' liability insurance and play an important role in providing strategic direction, ensuring good governance, and supporting the long-term success of the organization.

We are a working board. While effective governance requires thoughtful discussion and sound decision-making, we are looking for directors who are willing to contribute their time, expertise, and energy outside of board meetings. We value people who follow through, help solve problems, and turn ideas into action.
Board positions are filled through an election at our Annual General Meeting. Individuals who express interest will be contacted with information about the nomination process. Depending on the number of nominations received, candidates may be elected by the membership at the AGM or acclaimed to the Board.

Not interested in joining the Board? We'd still love to hear from you. Many of our initiatives are supported by board committees and working groups. If you have expertise to share but are unable to commit to serving as a director, there are meaningful opportunities to volunteer on committees that help the Board execute its work. Committee volunteers are an excellent way to contribute your skills while supporting the growth of boxing in Manitoba.

Serving with Boxing Manitoba is an opportunity to:
● Help grow and strengthen amateur boxing across Manitoba.
● Support safe, inclusive, and well-governed sport.
● Apply your professional expertise to a meaningful volunteer leadership role.
● Expand your leadership experience and professional network.

If you are interested in serving on the Board or volunteering on one of our committees, please contact us at info@boxingmanitoba.com with a brief introduction outlining your background, areas of expertise, and why you are interested in getting involved.

The strongest organizations benefit from diverse skills, perspectives, and lived experiences. We encourage inquiries from members of the boxing community, professionals from outside the sport, and anyone who shares our commitment to helping boxing thrive in Manitoba.
