Eico was a major manufacturer of reasonably priced and well made test equipment for the electronics hobbyist and small service shop market. Though fairly simple by design, especially when compared with modern test equipment, these "dinosaurs" can still have relevance in a modern shop. Short of a blown meter movement, self-repairs are relatively easy with service data easily available online. Resistance to over-voltage and low circuit loading are a couple of other notable advantages of a VTVM. These qualities are handy, especially when working on older equipment such as musical instrument amplifiers and other vintage electronics.
