‍♀️ This is the classic and evolving goddess silhouette, a continuation of an ancient tradition. In recent history, this basic shape and design was reintroduced and popularized through the work of the late Abby Willowroot, a prominent Californian Pagan leader and artist. In 1978, she used this shape for her iconic spiral goddess statues and began mass-producing her various designs in the 1990s with a manufacturer coincidentally called Sacred Source! She later encouraged people all over the world to create sacred art through her Goddess 2000 project, and became an important pioneer in interfaith prayer work. Over the years, countless designs have been obviously inspired by her spiral goddesses—a legacy that would have deeply satisfied her. These two lovely ceramic pieces are part of that recognizable and pervasive sacred art movement. While this particular tree-based goddess design first appeared in the 1990s, and now has an orderable mold, it is commonly produced only in resin today, making these ceramic versions very rare. These specific statues were made in the early 2000s. Since then, new designs by various artists have emerged, building upon past versions of the goddess shape. This common silhouette is shared, copied, elaborated upon, and mass-produced in endless iterations—which, arguably, has been the case for goddess-based art for millennia! ‍♀️
