1985 BMW 524td
Description
A very rare, original and collectible BMW diesel.
This first-generation BMW diesel, the 524td was one of the lowest-production BMW 5 Series cars in the E28 era. One of the most interesting features of the 524td is, of course, the engine. The 2.4 liter inline-6 turbo-diesel engine called the M21 D24.
This vehicle was recently driven from Washington State where it was in storage for over 12 years. The vehicle was imported and has not been safetied or licensed in Ontario and it still has the Washington plates. It achieved approximately 33 miles per US gallon on its trip here.
The white body is in amazing rust free condition. The interior is beige leather with some tears in back seat and armrest.
Known issues are interior electrical as the power windows and seats are not currently functional; the speedometer is not working (the tachometer is OK); and it has a cracked dash and windshield. The odometer is reading 211,900.
It does come with a number of spare parts including a remanufactured instrument cluster.
We had planned to complete the full restoration of this vehicle but have now decided to sell it to a true BMW aficionado.
Classic.com has benchmarking the value of the 1985 BMW 524td at $9300 USD with zero currently for sale.
This is a rare collectible. Our price: $5500 USD or $7700 CAD as is.
