Aprx. 9 year old Jug (Jack Russel /Pug).
We adopted her about 1 year ago. We were told someone found her on the side of a road. There were a lot of things the agency didn't tell us, which made us think she would be a good fit for our family. Unfortunately, throughout our time with her, we have found out we are not the best fit for her.
We have named her Holly. She is Deaf and we have been told one of her eyes is like she is looking through sunglasses. Her left eye is dry and requires eye drops 1 to 2 times a day. She has separation anxiety and barks, basically the whole time she is alone. The only thing they agency disclosed to us when we got her was that she required the eye drops, none of the other stuff. Another thing they never told us was that she had a lump removed on her left underarm. We discovered stitches when we got home and took her harness off. She does have a few other lumps, but the vet is not concerned about them.
Now, out of all of those things, the only thing that is stopping us from keeping her is the separation anxiety. We truly feel it is not fair to her to be afraid, bark and shake while we are gone. She deserves to be with someone who is home majority of the time, or can take her with them.
She really is a fantastic dog. The one thing the agency got right is that she likes a comfortable place to sleep and to be near someone. When youre home, she just sleeps or lays down on a comfy spot. She doesn't like toys at all, we have tried a few bones and she wasnt interested. She does like to go for walks, but not far. She is great on a leash, though she does like to sniff a lot! She will sit by the door when she needs to go out. If it takes you too long to notice, she will bark. Same goes for food or water. She will sit and stare until you notice. If you dont, she will bark for more. She is wonderful with kids, our son adores her. If you have someone to hold her, you can cut her nails (we usually do it between 2 days to give her a break). She is great in the car.
We had her yearly vet visit at the end of July. She is up to date with her vaccines, her bloodwork came back good. She does have some tartar build up on the back teeth. She is on flea/ tick prevention.
She will come with:
- collar
- remaining food
- treats
- whatever meds we currently have for her
- all the vet info we have for her
- her bed
