Overview
We are seeking a dedicated Veterinary Surgeon (DVM) to join our progressive and collaborative team to practice without supervision in a thriving small animal hospital equipped with a fantastic team, great equipment and even greater clientele.
This role is ideal for a veterinarian with a strong interest in surgery who is looking to develop and expand their surgical skillset in a supportive, forward-thinking environment.
At Firth Veterinary Hospital, you’ll be part of a team of 20, working together to deliver high-quality care to feline and canine patients while utilizing modern tools like Loom, Zoom, and cloud-based systems to enhance communication and workflow.

Your Role (Job Description)
Conduct thorough examinations of feline and canine patients to diagnose health conditions
Perform routine and advanced surgical procedures
Develop and implement treatment plans tailored to each patient
Monitor patient recovery and adjust treatments as needed
Utilize laboratory diagnostics to support clinical decision-making
Communicate clearly and compassionately with pet parents
Maintain accurate and detailed medical records
Collaborate closely with RVTs and team members to ensure high-quality patient care
Participate in ongoing learning and contribute to a team-focused environment
What We’re Looking For
Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) from an accredited institution
Licensed to Practice in Ontario with NO SUPERVISION
Minimum 5 years of solid surgical experience
Experience or comfort with both medical and surgical case management
Laboratory experience is highly valued
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Compassionate, patient-centered approach
Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment
Strong problem-solving skills and adaptability
Schedule
Monday–Thursday: 8:00 AM – 7:00 PM
Friday: 9:00 AM –5:00 PM
