Description
I moved August 8 and downsized, only to have inadequate space for my Display Tank.

I have for sale the following setup:

2-year-old 90G glass discus tank (4' long x 25" high) with glass lids and accessories on lovely wood stand 4' long, including 2 Blue Diamond Discus fish born in September 2025. The fish are a breeding pair.....plus cleanup crew 3 Corydoras, 2 Otto cats, and other cleanup staff. Eheim high end ThermoControl 250W heater; (retail $80 pretax) backup Eheim Jager 200W heater ($50 retail pretax). Fluval 407 filter with brand new hoses; brand new 3' Fluval spray bar AND mature large sponge filter/pump for added aeration. Plants include about 20 Jungle Val, 1 crypt wendtii wood/rock deco, 48" Aquatic Life light unit is older and has T8/T5 bulbs 6 months old...could get about a year out of them before replacing. Backup 48" brand new unused, in-box programmable Fluval Plant Spectrum programmable Bluetooth LED 59 Watts, 6,500K light unit ($300 pretax retail).

I'm old fashioned and actually like my older thumb-switch light and currently use it - it has new tubes which have been in use 4 months (T8/T5's I believe) and my plants flourish with that light. Tubes have about 9 months to go before they may not be perfect - generally I have changed tubes every 15-18 months. I'm unsure if one can still buy these. The new Fluval LED light is still untouched in its box and retails for $300 pretax. Substrate is 6-month-old Amazonia Aquasoil with sand cap. Ecosystem is now 8 months old.

My Discus were (purposely) from the same sibling group, and they are 12 months old and minimally third generation born in Ontario. I picked them up in Etobicoke and they were in crowded quarters when they were fry, hence siblings chewed some fins causing damage leading to some odd looking top fins. I attempted aquarium salt treatments, etc., but the damage seems. It won't however show up in their babies because the fry would be housed in better circumstances, is my hope.

Accessories:
Brand new Big Als' 50' python hose (retails for $80 pretax), or your choice of a 25' python hose plus a new bottle of Methylene Blue just in case.
*

Breeding:

I am not an expert; I do know one needs RO water to enhance the breeding process, and a large group of 9 fish may produce 2 Breeding Pairs. My original school produced 1 Breeding Pair. The last photo are some of this pair's siblings.

These Discus have coloured up to a lovely darker blue, iridescent look. Diet includes beefheart mix, TetraPro Tropical Crisps, TetraGold XL Tropical Granules, frozen blood worms, frozen spirulina brine shrimp, and some daphnia. They have not taken to VibraBites of which I have a big package (included) - my plan was to sneak VibraBites into the next round when I make frozen beefheart mix (like parents sneaking pureed carrots into kids' spaghetti sauce). I include 3 packages of this food $100 value. I can share my Beefheart recipe (I only make it about 3x yearly given I make a large quantity); Discus juveniles/adults retail for $80-100 each.

I love Discus, and this was a Bucket List thing and my first Discus experience. I intended to breed, however, I am prepared to part with this pair; I may purchase juveniles from the person who breeds this school. I want the Buyer to keep this strain pure and not cross breed. These fish have been laying and fertilizing eggs since early July and lay about every 2 weeks during the current breeding cycle. Come take a look and I will show you photos on my phone.
