Northern Performance Maintenance Ltd. (NPM) currently provides Mechanical & Electrical Power Generation Services on an as-and-when basis in the Northwest Territories. We are seeking a qualified and experienced Red Seal Heavy-Duty Mechanic with a minimum of 3-5 years of Power Generation experience.
This position requires flexibility and the ability to travel away from home for a 2-4 week rotation, working minimum 10-hour days. The position is as-required and would require travelling to remote communities by small plane or by auto.

Responsibilities:
Provide mechanical services on natural gas and diesel generators as well as additional equipment including pumps, compressors, radiators, heat exchangers, lubricating oil systems, fuel oil systems, cooling systems, and other mechanical equipment.
Will be responsible for the maintenance as well as conduct minor and major overhauls associated with the operation of various-sized engines and makes and models of natural gas and diesel generators.
Provide mechanical services required for maintenance and repairs of a variety of sized diesel and gas engines and generators of various sizes.
Provides accurate assessment of equipment and diesel plants and troubleshoots various mechanical problems.
Maintains a clean and safe work environment in the performance of work, maintains all tools and equipment in good working condition, ensures compliance with all safety programs in the completion of work activities.
Qualifications:
Certification as a Journeyperson Heavy Duty Diesel Mechanic/Heavy Equipment Technician with an Interprovincial Red Seal.
Minimum of 3 - 5 years of directly related experience at the journeyperson level in the repair, maintenance and operation of diesel generators and related equipment required.
Equivalencies may be considered.
A full valid Class 5 driver's license is required.
Ability to communicate effectively, both in written and verbal form, as well as work with minimal supervision and in a team environment.
Excellent knowledge of safety regulations and procedures.
Must have the ability to diagnose problems and propose and implement solutions.
