Carpenter’s Assistant / Labourer

Sitka Carpentry is a small, quality-focused residential renovation company working on mid-to-high-end homes across Ottawa. We handle kitchens, bathrooms, decks, custom work, and full renovations with a high standard of care.
This is a small carpentry business. If you’re willing to learn, you’ll have the opportunity to see and take part in the full range of what goes into running projects — from the physical work on site to the broader side of how a small renovation company operates.
The role

General site labour including demolition, material handling, and clean-up
Assisting with carpentry and renovation work (measuring, cutting, and using power tools under direction)
Maintaining site safety and protection
Keeping the job site organized and held to a high standard
Physically demanding work — ability to safely lift 50–75 lbs regularly is required

Requirements

Trustworthy, hard-working, and dependable
Strong sense of ownership and accountability — this is not a walk in the park
Positive attitude with a willingness to learn and accept feedback
Presentable and respectful at all times — this is a client-facing position
Basic carpentry knowledge or previous experience building things
Proper steel-toe boots and a well-stocked tool belt
Own vehicle and valid driver’s licence (required)
Able to work independently and take real ownership of the work once trained

Pay

$20–$30/hour based on skill and experience
30–35 hours per week to start
