The Spiders from Mars were the backing band of David Bowie in the early 1970s, initially consisting of Mick Ronson on guitars, Trevor Bolder on bass, and Mick Woodmansey on drums. The band was named after a UFO sighting and was featured prominently in Bowie's concept album "The Rise and Fall of Ziggy Stardust and the Spiders from Mars," released in 1972. They played a significant role in Bowie's Ziggy Stardust Tour and were involved in several of his subsequent albums, including "Aladdin Sane" and "Diamond Dogs."
