General Fam Labourer - harvester
Description
St. David's Hydroponics Ltd. is large vegetable greenhouse producing bell peppers. We are looking to fill 20 positions starting September 2026 - December 2026 at our Niagara on the Lake facility.
Wage: $17.60 per hour. No overtime
Work schedule: Monday - Saturday, 7:00am - 4:30 pm, 40-60hrs per week depending on the amount of product harvested
Who can apply: A Canadian Citizen, a permanent resident of Canada or a temporary resident of Canada with a valid work permit. DO NOT apply if you are not authorized to work in Canada.
Languages: English
Experience: Will train
Education: No degree, certificate, or diploma required
On site: Work must be completed at the physical location. There is no option to work remotely.
Work setting: Rural area, no public bus transportation in the area. Must have your own reliable daily transportation.
Work site environment: Dusty, dirty, hot, and humid
Job Duties: Farm work consisting of hand harvesting bell peppers, weeding, tie and secure plants, plant seedlings, clean the crop (suckering, fruit pruning, twisting), Divide fresh harvested produce into marketable lots and non-marketable lots. Grade fruits into different grades according to the size, shape, colour and volume to fetch high price in market. Prepping for crop change over (sweeping, raking, remove old plants and debris, disinfect and clean). Report signs of insect and pests.
Work conditions and physical capabilities: Fast paced environment, attention to detail, repetitive tasks, physically demanding, good hand-eye co-ordination, ability to distinguish between colours, standing for extended periods, bending, crouching, kneeling, walking. Must be able to lift 50 lbs.
