About Us The DeBolt Curling Rink is a three-sheet facility owned and operated by the DeBolt & District Agricultural Society. Located in a close knit rural community, the rink provides high-quality ice and a welcoming environment for individuals of all ages and skill levels. It serves as a hub for recreation, skill development, and friendly competition, fostering community engagement and connection throughout the winter season.
Job Description The DeBolt Curling Rink is seeking a full-time seasonal Ice Caretaker responsible for maintaining the ice surface, facility, and equipment to a high standard. This role includes supporting curling tournaments and league play to ensure smooth and professional operations. The successful candidate will demonstrate a strong work ethic, maintain a professional attitude, and collaborate closely with the Curling Board of Directors and the General Manager. Experience or willingness to assist with junior curling instruction is considered an asset but is not a requirement for the position.
Key Responsibilities • Ensure Ice Plant temperature is within the safe zone on a daily basis. • Keep the best ice possible • Keep scraper in running order. • Maintain the blades, sharpening as required. • Keep the ice area clean with the tools provided. • Keep Rock Handles/Broom Handles Clean and in Good Repair • Work with the committee to promote curling and events in the club. • Do scheduling and draws for league, with the support of the curling committee. • Work with the committee and Peace Area Association to have area events hosted in the club (Peace Country Juniors, Provincial Playdowns, etc). • Be available for private ice rental. • Keep an up-to-date inventory on all equipment • Work with the committee on bonspiels. • Keep the storage room and Ice Plant rooms clean at all times. • Maintain Outdoor Rink Qualifications • Previous experience in ice making/care taking preferred, but not required. • Ability to operate and maintain various ice making equipment. • Strong attention to detail and commitment to high standards of quality. • Strong communication skills and ability to work well with a team. • Flexibility to work early mornings, weekends, and holidays as needed.
