Experienced Community/Home Support Team Member
Are you a creative, imaginative and positive person with a gift for gab and a knack for connecting with community? Are you energized by the idea of supporting an adult with a disability to thrive in community and their relationships?
If so, we want to meet you!
We are recruiting for a lady with a disability. The part time position would be from 24-28 hours per week, with a salary range between $23 and $25 per hour to support our adult family member to be meaningfully engaged in the community and home.
Your responsible supports would ensure that our family member is continually finding ways to expand her world, for example by meeting new people, learning new things, and simply living her best life.
Duties:
Support our family member to:
* Explore opportunities in the community, including learning opportunities in areas of her interest.
* Develop skills supporting her to meal planning, grocery shopping and exercise.
* Patience and compassion understanding behaviours and deescalation skills are helpful.
* Experience working with people who are nonspeaking but use a communication to express their needs and wants is a bonus.
* Personal care and companionship: dressing, teeth brushing meal prep, cleaning, laundry, video games, music, etc
* Provide transportation
* Communicate any issues promptly
* Work with family members
Qualifications:
* Strong understanding of and commitment to inclusion.
* Strong communications skills and comfort in a mentorship position
* Existing knowledge of social and recreation opportunities in Edmonton is an asset.
* A valid Class 5 driver’s license; access to a reliable vehicle and applicable insurance.
* 3-year driver’s abstract obtained within previous 6 months.
* Police check with vulnerable sectors completed within previous 6 months.
* Standard First Aid certified.
* Must speak clear and fluent English.
