About the Role

We are looking for a dependable and mechanically inclined Rental Equipment Technician to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for delivering, installing, maintaining, and retrieving rental equipment at customer sites. You will work with equipment such as portable generators, temporary heaters, power distribution equipment, fuel tanks, and related accessories, ensuring customers receive safe, reliable, and professional service.

This position combines technical skills, customer service, and safe driving practices, making it ideal for someone who enjoys working both in the shop and in the field.

Key Responsibilities

* Deliver, install, and retrieve rental equipment at customer locations.
* Set up and commission temporary generators, heaters, fuel systems, and associated equipment.
* Perform pre-delivery inspections and operational testing to ensure equipment is clean, safe, and ready for rental.
* Conduct routine maintenance, troubleshooting, and minor repairs on rental equipment.
* Provide customers with basic operating instructions and safety information.
* Complete delivery documentation, service reports, and equipment inspections accurately.
* Load, secure, and transport equipment safely in accordance with company policies and transportation regulations.
* Maintain company vehicles, tools, and equipment in a clean and serviceable condition.
* Respond to emergency service calls when required.
* Follow all company safety policies and applicable regulations while working in the shop and on customer sites.
* Support warehouse operations, inventory management, and general shop duties as needed.

Qualifications

* Mechanical aptitude with experience maintaining or operating industrial, construction, or rental equipment.
* Experience with generators, temporary heating equipment, or diesel-powered equipment is considered an asset.
* Valid driver's license with a clean driving record (Class 3 with air brake endorsement is an asset, depending on local requirements).
* Ability to troubleshoot mechanical and electrical equipment.
* Strong customer service and communication skills.
* Ability to work independently and manage priorities in a fast-paced environment.
* Comfortable working outdoors in various weather conditions.
* Ability to lift up to 50 lbs (23 kg) and perform physically demanding tasks.

Preferred Experience

* Previous experience in equipment rental, construction, industrial services, or power generation.
* Familiarity with diesel engines, electrical systems, propane or natural gas heating equipment.
* Forklift, telehandler, or skid steer experience is considered an asset
* WHMIS, First Aid, Fall Protection, or other relevant safety certifications are considered assets.
