Continuing Care Assistant / Personal Care Worker

Job type: part-time
Hours: 18-24 hours per week
Pay $22.00 per hour (through Independent Living Nova Scotia)
Start Date: ASAP

Seeking an experienced personal care worker to help a 58 year old widow with MS. Diagnosed in 2001, with relapsing-remitting MS. In 2008 the diagnosis changed to secondary progressive MS. Currently living in my own home with my mother and small dog. I need help with most daily tasks. I’d love to get out more and enjoy the fresh air.

Morning hours available from 9:00am-3:00pm, Monday and Tuesday, Thursdays.

Responsibilities:
Personal hygiene
Occasional meal preparation, helping me eat and drink at mealtime, and post-meal cleanup
Light housekeeping, such as laundry, dishes, sweeping floors, wiping counters
Feeding and walking my dog
Assistance in getting out to appointments
Range of motion exercises

Requirements:
Experience with gantry lift and power chair
Respectful and trustworthy
Clear criminal record and vulnerable sector check
Physically fit/able to perform physically demanding job duties
Current Standard First-Aid and CPR certification
Successful completion of a CCA/PSW program
2 years experience
References
Valid work permit/social insurance number required
