Description
Please read entire post and respond VIA EMAIL with an intro message and an attached resume.
Full Time Gardening Employee Wanted:
What: Artemis Home and Garden is looking for a steadfast, detail-oriented gardener for the 2026 season! Someone that already has some experience with commercial gardening, or land care services on some level is a must. We are looking for hardworking folk who thrive being out in the elements, have a detailed eye for beauty, enjoy working up a sweat, and getting paid! There is one flexible position available (25- 35 hours/ week) from end of June 2026 to end of October 2026 weather permitting (or when you start school in the fall if you are a student). This position is open to students or nonstudents.
I have found this job to be rewarding and low stress, but it is labour intensive and can be uncomfortable at times. You will be often dealing with hot sun, and sometimes mosquitoes, rain and cold at the beginning and end of the season. The work will involve lots of weeding, digging, plant care, debris removal, pruning bushes and shrubs, deadheading, transplanting and more. This is a terrific opportunity to stay fit, learn or continue learning about plants and gardening, and work all summer outdoors!!
Please note: This job requires you to be fit and healthy. If you have back issues past or present, this job is not for you. Although I will be training you with safety and ergonomics as a top priority, please prepare properly for this job BEFORE hand and during (i.e. exercising and stretching to prevent injury and generally taking care of yourself). This role will require you to squat, bend over and kneel repetitively, and sometimes constantly for extended periods of time. You also must be able to carry about 35lbs repeatedly. If you’re not very confident in your ability to comfortably do these things and/or you do not have prior experience with hours of detail oriented physical labour, please rethink whether this job is for you. Its one thing to be a bit soar at the beginning due to building strength and its another thing to work inefficiently because the demands of the job are causing you pain everyday or aggravate a past injury.
When: It would be about 4-5 days a week depending on how it is scheduled. Again, it will be from about mid June to the end of October 2026 (again, this will be modified for students)
How much: The wage will vary depending on experience and performance, and is negotiable! You will start out at $20.00-$22.00 per hour during training, and then you will have opportunity to make more if you demonstrate your experience or ability. As more experience and skills are gained there will be opportunity for higher pay as well.
Requirements: - A reliable vehicle is mandatory as you will be commuting to each site every day.
- A strong work ethic, and attention to detail are key to this job. Its important to be methodical, and thorough as well as timely and efficient. There is a big and exciting learning curve unless you have done this kind of gardening before. Some experience with commercial gardening and/or landscaping is an asset and is required. With time you will be a plant ID extraordinaire!
- It is important that you are fit, and healthy as repetitive motions and tasks can be taxing on the body if not done the right way.
- Being grounded in Edmonton for the summer is a must. Please let me know well in advance about vacations and time off. Mother earth waits for no one.
Application: Please send me an email telling me about yourself, and your interest with a resume attached to: artemishomeandgarden@gmail.com
I will not respond to any applications not sent through email with a resume attached.
If you hear back from me, we can set up an initial interview and then a second interview may be required.
Thanks for considering and look forward to hearing from you!
