Maple is a 9 month old purebred Irish Wold Hound puppy looking for her forever home. She is a beautiful brindle color with a sweet temperament. Maple is a tad on the nervous side but has gotten better with exposure and patience. Unfortunately her owner is unable to provide the exposure and consistency that she needs at the moment and Maple is struggling because of that. Shes a very friendly girl who loves other animals, she has tried to play with the household cat but has calmed down with corrections from the cat and humans. She's been raised around other dogs, cats and birds and does well with all of them. She can be unaware of her size and wants to play so small dogs can be unintentionally hurt by her, with training this can get better. Maple has some basic training but would do better with someone who has more time for her. Maple is crate trained and consistenly goes outside for bathroom. If left for long periods she should be crated as she does get into things. Not all the time but enough that its not safe for her to be left out until she gets a bit older and learns not to do that. Maple has had exposure to grooming and while its not her favourite thing she tolerates it well. Does well in the bath and seems curious about the blowdryer. She has also had some exposure to handstripping.
Maples ideal home would have another dog who is medium-large and likes to play. Maple is a sight hound so she sounds rough when playing but she is just vocal. Understanding of the breed would be amazing/willingness to learn as they are a very special breed. Maple would love a home that would have a consistent schedule and time for training. Shes fairly independent but also loves her people. She likes to go on adventures and does well in the car. Her recall could use some work but shes not bad for a baby! Ideally her new home would keep up on her coat care with brushing and if wanting her short, handstripping is the better method as opposed to shaving her. Maple needs patience and exposure. She is very treat driven and extremely smart when given the chance to learn. She forms deep bonds and is eager to please her people. Someone to love her for who she is while working on bettering her to be a more well rounded dog is ideal.
Maple is overall a wonderful dog who deserves a family of her own. She's a quirky girl who is full of personality and a wonderful family dog and is very swret and gentle with children of all ages. Please reach out with any questions/interest to the number above. I won't have many answers myself so reaching out to her owner is the best option.
