T.A. Excavating Ltd. is a local Excavating & Utilities Placement company specializing in earthworks / underground utility installation of Gas, Electrical, Water and Fiber/Telecom - serving Lethbridge, Calgary and Southern Alberta, for 40 years.
We are looking to hire individuals who will contribute to our team of dedicated personnel by bringing their experience and high-quality workmanship to every project.

POSITION: HORIZONTAL DIRECTIONAL DRILL OPERATOR
PROJECTS: Utility Installations - Fibre
PROJECT LOCATION: Calgary
APPROX. START DATE: Immediate

NOTE: Preference will be given to applicants with HDD experience working in urban areas and around underground utilities

RESPONSIBILITIES
• Operate and maintain drilling equipment
• Inspect, clean, lubricate, refuel vehicles and equipment
• Load and unload equipment, materials and/or tools from vehicles and trailers
• Collect and dispose of scrap and excess materials in accordance with our environmental policies
• Complete all required paperwork in accordance with industry standards and OHS regulations
• Must be able to communicate effectively; verbally, written and with hand signals
• Other duties as required

REQUIREMENTS
• Must have current valid Class 1 with Air Brakes - abstract required
• CSTS Certificate
• Ability to work independently with good problem-solving skills
• Must be willing to perform other construction duties assigned
• Physically fit and able to work in diverse weather conditions
• Must be willing to work overtime and weekends as project requires
• Operate equipment in a safe and professional manner
• Understanding of Alberta One Call Locate documentation
• Performs pre trip inspections and daily/ongoing job task hazard assessments
• Attend safety meetings and participate in hazard assessments
• Be able to pass employment drug screening test, if required

ASSETS
• Experience running D9x13, D20 x 22, D23x13 , 24 x 40 drills
• Experience using F Series Digitrac Locating units
• Safety Tickets (First Aid, Ground Disturbance, etc)
