Position Summary
Title: Front Desk Receptionist — Temple Operations
Organization: Nithyananda Meditation Academy (Kailasa Toronto)
Location: 1960 Ellesmere Road, Unit #10, Scarborough, ON
Term: Summer 2026 — May to August 29, 2026
Hours: 35 hours per week (full-time summer position)
Wage: $17.60 per hour (Canada Summer Jobs grant-funded)
About Us
Nithyananda Meditation Academy, is a registered charity, including food bank, library, yoga and meditation center, and Hindu temple in Scarborough. We serve the community through daily yoga & meditation classes, cultural festivals, food bank distribution, and interfaith outreach. Our temple is a vibrant hub for spiritual learning and cross-cultural dialogue.
Role Overview
We are seeking a friendly and organized student to serve as our temple's front desk receptionist for summer 2026.
This is a grant-funded position under the Canada Summer Jobs program.
Key Responsibilities
Front desk operations: Greet visitors, answer phone calls, manage inquiries (in-person, phone, email)
Schedule coordination: Assist with temple event bookings, room rentals, and program sign-ups
Community support: Provide assistance to seniors, families, and volunteers
Administrative tasks: Data entry, filing, maintaining visitor logs, handling correspondence
Communication: Answer general questions about temple programs, hours, and services
Security: Monitor temple entrance during operating hours, ensure smooth flow of visitors
Team collaboration: Support temple staff and volunteers with daily operations
Required Qualifications
Current student (undergraduate or graduate)
Returning to full-time studies in September 2026 - Proof of Fall 2026 enrolment
Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or protected person (refugee status) — international students are not eligible under CSJ rules
Available to work 35 hours per week from April 20 – August 29, 2026
Previous customer service, retail, or front desk experience (preferred but not required)
Professional, warm, and reliable demeanor
Basic computer literacy (Google Workspace, email, scheduling tools)
Student must be 15–30 years old at time of hire
