Job Title and Overview
The Order Picker Operator / Forklift Operator is responsible for safely and efficiently retrieving inventory from upper storage locations using powered equipment to support packing and fulfillment operations. This role plays a critical part in ensuring inventory is delivered accurately and promptly to packing stations while maintaining a strong focus on workplace safety and operational efficiency.
The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, safety-conscious, and experienced in operating warehouse equipment in a fast-paced environment.
Essential Job Functions
• Operate forklifts, order pickers, and other powered warehouse equipment in a safe and responsible manner
• Retrieve inventory from upper racking locations and deliver items to designated packing or staging areas
• Ensure accuracy when selecting products, quantities, and locations
• Maintain awareness of pedestrians, equipment, and surroundings at all times while operating machinery
• Follow all safety procedures and equipment operating guidelines
• Perform pre-use equipment inspections and report any mechanical issues immediately • Assist with inventory organization, replenishment, and stock rotation as required • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment
• Communicate effectively with warehouse and packing staff to support workflow efficiency Education and Experience
• High school diploma or equivalent preferred
• Previous experience operating forklifts or order picker machines in a warehouse environment preferred
• Valid forklift and/or order picker certification required (or ability to obtain certification) • Experience with Warehouse Management Systems (WMS) is an asset
Working Conditions
• Full-time position: Monday to Friday, 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM (schedule may vary depending on operational needs)
• Occasional overtime may be required, including evenings and weekends during peak periods • Warehouse environment with exposure to noise, temperature variations, and physically demanding tasks
• Requires standing, walking, lifting, and repetitive motions for extended periods
