About the Role
As a trusted, family-owned recycling operation serving Eastern Ontario, Glenview Iron & Metal is built on the pillars of team collaboration, steadfast safety, and a dedicated small-town work ethic. We are seeking a professional Scrap Buyer to drive the procurement of scrap metals and strengthen our recycling network. The ideal candidate combines market savvy with the interpersonal skills needed to build lasting community and industrial metal recycling partnerships.
Key Responsibilities & Duties
· Strategic Account Management: Identify, develop, and sustain relationships with industrial manufacturers, construction firms, and auto wreckers to secure consistent scrap metal streams.
· Logistics Coordination: Synchronize material pickups with dispatch and yard operations to ensure seamless transportation and processing ensuring customer satisfaction.
· Commercial Integrity: Uphold ethical procurement standards, ensuring transparency, accuracy, and high-value commercial practices in every transaction.
· Brand Ambassadorship: Act as the professional face of Glenview Iron & Metal, delivering exceptional customer service to both industrial clients and site visitors.
· Safety Leadership: Strictly adhere to all internal safety protocols and provincial regulations.
Required Qualifications & Experience
· Proven Experience: Minimum 2 years in scrap metal procurement or a related industrial sales/buying role.
· Technical Proficiency: Knowledge of metal grading, raw material sources, and standard scrap yard operational flow.
· Core Competencies: Strong negotiation, mathematical, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to communicate effectively across all levels of the business.
· Collaborative Mindset: Ability to work autonomously in the field while contributing to a unified, inter-departmental team.
· Integrity: Unwavering ethical standards and a self-motivated work ethic.
· Mobility: A valid driver’s license and a willingness to travel in order to manage accounts and foster new connections.
