Shop Mechanic – Saskatoon, SK
Pay: $40–$46 per hour
Schedule: Monday to Friday on-call rotation
We are currently seeking an experienced Shop Mechanic to join a growing equipment rental operation in Saskatoon. If you have hands-on experience repairing aerial equipment, compressors, generators, excavators, and forklifts, this could be a great fit. This role offers steady weekday hours with an on-call rotation and strong compensation.
What You’ll Do
Develop and maintain a preventative maintenance schedule for fleet equipment at the branch
Operate and test equipment to ensure quality and efficiency standards are met
Perform routine maintenance and repairs on fleet equipment and trucks independently
Diagnose internal combustion engines, DC electrical systems, propane systems, hydraulics, and fuel systems
Perform major repairs using diagnostic tools, hand tools, and measuring instruments
Complete oil changes, lubrication, tire replacements, hose repairs, battery replacements, and other services
Assist with customer damage estimates and repair assessments
Enter and review work orders and complete parts ordering via fleet management systems
Recondition and replace components on heavy equipment
Identify wear and tear or potential problem areas on equipment
Handle service calls and coordinate field service dispatch when required
Maintain a clean and organized work area
Produce timely service reports and repair logs
Assist in training junior mechanics and support shop leadership
Follow company procedures and safety protocols
Perform additional duties as required
Skills & Qualifications
Ability to operate various types of vehicles and equipment
Strong mechanical troubleshooting and diagnostic skills
Ability to safely lift up to 50 lbs
Solid written and verbal communication skills
Basic computer skills for opening/closing work orders and entering information
Strong time management and organizational skills
Attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship
Ability to work effectively with team members at all levels
Dependable with strong teamwork and interpersonal skills
Requirements
Minimum 2 years of hands-on experience repairing equipment
Experience with aerial equipment, construction equipment, or similar assets preferred
Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment
Strong initiative and organizational abilities
Professional, customer-service-oriented attitude
Valid driver’s license
Recent driver’s abstract required
