Seeking Professional Home Care Attendants for Night shifts
****This is not a cash job. All interested applicants should have a valid social insurance number (SIN)****
Location: Aurora, St. John’s Sideroad and Bayview Avenue
Salary: $18-19/hour, Full time
***We are ONLY looking for night shift. Client will be sleeping, and Attendant will be required to observe her overnight in the event that she wakes in respiratory distress.***
Applicant will be dealing directly with a single female client with Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS). I have limited mobility, and require assistance with ALL activities of daily living. I require the constant presence of a caregiver that can attend to my needs, which can be specific and unpredictable.
What you’ll be doing
-Applicant will assist with activities of daily living, including tracheostomy care and ventilation (training will be provided)
-Possible tasks include suctioning, tracheostomy maintenance, feeding (through peg tube), toileting, dressing, hygiene, repositioning, operating a Hoyer lift alone, range of motion, and a few household duties (maintaining cleanliness of her area, etc.).
- Successful applicants will be trained on specific care needs; and will be provided with written instruction where appropriate.
What you’ll bring
-Applicant must be confident, quick to respond in critical situations, and willing to take instruction and receive training on specific requirements
-I value an applicant that is patient, eager to learn, listens intently, and takes note of specific preferences when care is administered
-Applicant must bring some experience in the medical field/caretaking (such as nursing or PSW), students are welcome to apply
-CPR certification is preferred.
What you’ll get
-Applicants will have the opportunity to connect with a single client, and familiarize themselves with her needs. You will also be working in a relaxed home environment that allows for flexibility, downtime, and a depth of education in several different aspects of care not necessarily available in other settings.
-Successful applicants will have access to kitchen appliances and smoking is allowed outside the home on breaks
-7.5 hours per shift plus 30 minute lunch, 37.5 paid hours per week
-Home is pet friendly (two cats)
