Ellowyn is an 8 month old Belgian Malinois. She’s not your ordinary Mal, she’s a special needs puppy that will never be like the stereotypical Mal that we see on TV or TicTok.

My rescue, Guide Us Home German Shepherd Rescue Society (837147776RR0001) accepted Ellowyn into the rescue to give her the medical attention she required. A board certified Orthopaedic surgeon operated on Ellowyn’s left hip and her right arm. These two surgeries were done to mitigate potential pain further down the road.

At the time of the surgeries Ellowyn was not in any pain and behaved like a normal pain in the butt puppy. She took a shining to Jack, a 2 year old Shepherd that was also new into the rescue. They played a lot and would chase each other around the vehicles.

Ellowyn is a wiggly puppy and loves all people and appears to want to be around every dog she sees. There has been no aggression or crankiness with her although she can play the drama queen when having to do something she doesn’t want to do. Ie: having to wear a shirt to protect her hip after surgery and she would flop on the floor in protest. She’s had no training thus far because I wanted her surgeries to be done and have her healed up before I start any sort of obedience with her. She’s a strong girl and will pull on the leash so that’s one skill that will be worked on once we start training.
