Job Overview
A growing furniture manufacturing company is seeking a skilled and reliable Wood Worker /
Sander to join its production team. The successful candidate will be responsible for sanding and
preparing wood components, working with veneer and plastic laminate, and using various
woodworking tools and machinery to produce high-quality furniture components in a
manufacturing environment.

Pay rate: $25.00 per hour (depending on experience)
Work Schedule: Monday to Friday | 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM
Location: Scarborough, ON (Near Finch Ave E & Tapscott Rd)

Work Environment
• Indoor manufacturing / workshop setting
• Exposure to noise, dust, wood particles, adhesives, paint, and finishing materials
• Standing and walking for extended periods
• Fast-paced production environment during peak periods

Responsibilities
• Work on multiple woodworking projects while maintaining high quality standards
• Read and understand shop drawings, schematics, and blueprints
• Operate woodworking machines such as saws, sanding machines, drill presses, routers,
planers, and milling machines
• Use hand tools including nailers, staplers, scrapers, files, and orbital sanders
• Cut, shape, and assemble wood, MDF, plywood, and composite materials
• Sand and smooth surfaces, edges, and joints in preparation for finishing
• Apply and trim plastic laminate (Formica or similar materials) using proper finishing
techniques
• Work with wood veneer including layout, matching, pressing, trimming, and finishing
• Inspect finished products to ensure quality and accuracy
• Perform minor finishing and surface preparation work
• Maintain a clean and safe work area according to workplace safety policies
• Report material shortages, defects, or equipment issues to the supervisor
Qualifica7ons & Experience
• High school diploma or equivalent preferred
• 3–6 years of experience as a cabinet maker or woodworker in a furniture manufacturing
or woodworking environment preferred
• Strong knowledge of woodworking machinery, tools, and materials
• Experience working with plastic laminate and wood veneer
• Ability to read shop drawings and measurements accurately
• Ability to use measuring tools such as tape measures, calipers, and squares
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality work
• Reliable, punctual, and able to work independently or within a team
Physical Requirements
• Ability to stand for extended periods
• Ability to perform repetitive tasks
• Ability to lift, push, or pull up to 50 lbs
• Good hand-eye coordination and manual dexterity

Working Conditions
• Manufacturing environment with exposure to noise, dust, and machinery
• Use of PPE (safety glasses, hearing protection, and safety footwear) required at all
times
• Full-time, on-site position

Health & Safety

Participation in workplace safety training and adherence to safe work practices is mandatory.
