We are expanding our menu and are seeking a candidate with strong knowledge of ethnic cuisines, including an understanding of traditional cooking methods, cultural origins, and the use of authentic spices and ingredients. We are looking for a motivated, highly dependable, and passionate Assistant Manager / Cook to support our daily operations and uphold our reputation for quality and consistency, while also helping preserve our cultural roots through the preparation of authentic ethnic cuisine and demonstrating strong knowledge of its regional origins.

Position Summary
The Assistant Manager / Cook will play a dual role in supporting front-of-house and back-of-house operations. This position requires strong leadership skills, previous food preparation experience, and a genuine passion and knowledge for ethnic cuisine, along with the ability to perform effectively in a high-pressure environment, particularly on weekends when live musical performances and large crowds are present.

Key Responsibilities
-Kitchen & Food Preparation Duties:
-Prepare and cook menu items applying knowledge of diverse ethnic cuisines, traditional cooking techniques, and the proper use of authentic spices and ingredients.
-Ensure strict compliance with all food safety, hygiene, and sanitation regulations at all times.
-Monitor food inventory levels and assist with ordering supplies to maintain adequate stock and minimize waste.
-Maintain a clean, organized, and sanitary kitchen environment, including all equipment and workstations.
-Assist with menu planning, portion control, and cost management to support operational efficiency and profitability

Assistant Management Duties:
-Responsible for overseeing restaurant operations in the absence of the Senior Manager, ensuring continuity, efficiency, and high standards of service.
-Supervise and train staff to ensure excellent customer service
-Assist in scheduling and staff coordination
-Handle customer inquiries and resolve complaints professionally
-Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations
-Assist with cash handling and closing procedures

Qualifications
-Minimum 3-5 years of experience in a restaurant or hospitality setting
-knowledge and experience of preparation of ethnic cuisines highly desired
-Previous supervisory or leadership experience required
-Strong knowledge of food safety standards
-Excellent communication and team leadership skills
-Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays
-Food Safety Certification (asset)
