Job description:
Western Care Homes, located in Parkhill, ON, is a group home for adults living with mental illness. This role has varying hours that include 2-3 shifts during the week and every Saturday. Great position for someone with no experience or rejoining the workforce. If you can cook and clean we can teach you the rest. Please see below for further details.
Job Description:
· Prepare meals for residents, according to pre-arranged menus
· Maintain accurate records of resident care
· Clean residence including kitchen, washrooms, and public areas
· Dispense medications as sent by the pharmacy, and log into the EMAR system.
· Hours vary but include 2 -3 shifts per week at 8 hours in duration as well as every Saturday. Shifts may be flexible. During the weekend shift staff is required to remain at the residence for 24hrs (an apartment is available on site), but the actual work shift is paid as 12 hrs a day.
Requirements:
· Must have First Aid/CPR and Safe Food Handling (or willing to complete it)
· Must have clean vulnerable persons record check
· Must be able to get to job site, even in inclement weather (residents cannot be left unattended)
· Must have OSSD or equivalent, and minimum age of 18
· Previous experience is an asset, but training will be provided
· Must be reliable
Summary
As a Group Home Worker, you will be instrumental in providing compassionate care and support to individuals in a group home setting. Your skills in caregiving, cooking and cleaning will be complemented by premium skills in assisted living, and working with persons with mental health concerns. You will be responsible for daily activities such as meal preparation, medication administration, and maintaining a clean environment.
