Location: Mississauga, ON (On-site)
Engagement Type: Independent Contractor (through agency)
Contract Term: 1 year (with potential extension or direct hire based on performance)
Schedule: Monday–Friday, 10:00 AM – 6:00 PM (flexible)
Note: Occasional weekend work may be required during peak tax season

Role Summary

We are seeking a CPA – Senior Tax Accountant with strong Canadian public accounting experience to support personal and small business tax engagements. This role requires hands-on preparation and review of tax returns, CRA correspondence, and mentoring junior staff in a fast-paced, client-focused environment.

Key Responsibilities

Prepare and review Canadian personal and corporate tax returns (T1, T2, T3, GST/HST)

Provide tax planning and advisory services for individuals and entrepreneurs

Review work prepared by junior staff and ensure compliance with CRA requirements

Handle CRA correspondence, audits, notices of assessment, and reviews

Support process improvements and workflow efficiencies

Stay current with Canadian tax laws, CRA policies, and tax credit updates

Mentor junior staff and collaborate closely with management

Support client relationships and contribute to business growth

Required Qualifications

CPA designation (completed or in final stages preferred)

Minimum 5 years of progressive tax accounting experience (public practice preferred)

Strong knowledge of Canadian income tax (T1, T2, T3, GST/HST)

Hands-on experience preparing and reviewing tax returns

Experience dealing directly with CRA audits and correspondence

Experience with TaxPrep, Profile, FutureTax, and accounting tools such as QuickBooks

Leadership or team supervision experience

Strong attention to detail, organization, and analytical skills

Ability to manage multiple deadlines in a fast-paced environment

Excellent communication and client service skills

Assets (Nice to Have)

Experience with non-resident or cross-border taxation

Screening Priority

Candidates will be prioritized if they:

Have recent Canadian public accounting firm experience

Have prepared and reviewed both personal and corporate tax returns

Have directly handled CRA communications or audits

Are comfortable working fully on-site in Mississauga
