Job Title: CPA – Senior Tax Accountant (Independent Contractor)

Location: Mississauga, ON (On-site)
Engagement Type: Independent Contractor (through agency)
Contract Duration: 1 Year (possibility of extension or direct hire based on performance)
Schedule: Monday to Friday, 10:00 AM – 6:00 PM (flexible)
Note: Occasional weekend work may be required during peak tax season

Job Responsibilities

Prepare and review personal and corporate tax returns (T1, T2, T3, GST/HST)

Provide tax planning and advisory services to individuals and entrepreneurs

Review junior staff work and ensure compliance with CRA regulations

Handle CRA correspondence, audits, and notices of assessment

Improve workflow processes and operational efficiency

Stay updated on Canadian tax laws, CRA policies, and tax credit updates

Mentor junior staff and collaborate with management

Support business growth and maintain strong client relationships

Required Qualifications

CPA designation (completed or in final stages)

Minimum 5 years of progressive tax accounting experience (public practice preferred)

Strong knowledge of Canadian tax (T1, T2, T3, GST/HST)

Experience with non-resident or cross-border tax is an asset

Leadership or team supervision experience

Experience with TaxPrep, Profile, FutureTax, and accounting software (QuickBooks, etc.)

Strong analytical skills and attention to detail

Ability to manage multiple deadlines in a fast-paced environment

Excellent communication and client service skills
