Sterling Properties is a family-owned and operated property management company that has operated in Downtown Halifax since the late 1980s. Our portfolio has grown to include multiple residential and commercial properties, including Halifax's historic 'Carleton House'.
Sterling Properties is seeking a Residential Cleaner to join our team to assist with daily tasks at all of our properties. This role supports day-to-day operations of upkeep, general maintenance, cleanliness, unit turnover and overall satisfaction of our residents.
Responsibilities Include:
• Maintaining cleanliness of common areas, hallways, exteriors and laundry facilities (vacuuming, mopping, dusting, sweeping, glass cleaning etc.).
• Cleaning and preparing vacant units for new tenants.
• Performing and documenting routine inspections and maintenance activities (building walkthroughs, visual inspections of life safety equipment, etc.).
• Notifying management of any deficiencies, inventory levels or repairs needed.
• Assisting our Operations Manager and Property Manager with landscaping, general maintenance such as plumbing repairs, drywall repairs, painting, etc.) as needed.
• Following established cleaning procedures, schedules and safety protocols.
Qualifications:
• Familiarity with HVAC, plumbing, fire protection and building system controls is considered an asset
• Past working experience as a cleaner is an asset
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs
• Knowledge of cleaning products and chemicals
• Familiarity with Occupational Health & Safety Guidelines & WHIMIS
• Strong communication and organizational skills with the ability to learn new skills
• Is punctual and reliable
• Ability to work independently and with others
• Ability to adjust to a flexible schedule, when needed
• Access to a vehicle is an asset
• Ability to communicate in English
Position Details
• Schedule is typically Monday to Friday 8am – 4:30pm, but hours can be flexible based on operating needs, your schedule and/or management's schedule. We will require coverage on specific days of the year when turnaround is highest, or when there is extra work needed; therefore, weekends or evenings may be necessary.
• Pay is hourly, based on experience. Paid bi-weekly.
• You will be required to work on site at our properties located on:
o Argyle Street
o Queen Street (Halifax)
o Shirley Street
