The Opportunity: Are you an experienced and highly skilled drone pilot with a passion for technology and a commitment to public safety? We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Drone Pilot to join our innovative team. In this pivotal role, you will be responsible for operating advanced Unmanned Aerial Systems (UAS) to support critical missions across security, emergency management, wildfire mitigation, and evidence collection.
This is a unique opportunity to apply your expertise in a rapidly evolving field, contributing directly to community safety and operational efficiency. You will be instrumental in deploying state-of-the-art drone technology to gather vital data and provide real-time intelligence for our partners, including law enforcement and emergency services.
Key Responsibilities:
Drone Operations: Safely and effectively operate advanced UAS for various missions, including security surveillance, evidence collection, aerial mapping, and situational awareness.
Data Acquisition: Collect high-quality visual and thermal data, still imagery, and video footage in accordance with mission objectives and legal guidelines.
Equipment Maintenance: Perform routine pre-flight checks, maintenance, and troubleshooting of drone equipment, payloads, and associated ground systems to ensure operational readiness.
Reporting & Documentation: Maintain accurate flight logs, incident reports, and detailed mission documentation, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards and client requirements.
Collaboration with Authorities: Work closely with law enforcement, emergency management agencies, and other stakeholders to provide aerial support during critical incidents and investigations.
Wildfire Mitigation: Assist in wildfire mitigation efforts through hot spot identification, perimeter monitoring, and providing aerial intelligence to ground crews.
Technological Adaptability: Continuously adapt to and master new drone technologies, software, and operational procedures as the industry evolves.
Qualifications:
Transport Canada Advanced Pilot Certificate – Remotely Piloted Aircraft System (RPAS).
Alberta Security Services License.
Clean Criminal Record Check.
Valid Class 5 Alberta Driver's License with a clean driving abstract.
Proven experience operating Unmanned Aerial Systems (UAS) in diverse environments and for various operational objectives.
Demonstrated ability to quickly learn, adapt to, and proficiently utilize changing technology and software platforms.
Strong understanding of aviation regulations, airspace management, and safety protocols.
Preferred Qualifications:
Previous experience in law enforcement, emergency services (EMS, SAR), or firefighting roles.
Experience with thermal imaging cameras and their application in security or emergency response.
Familiarity with GIS mapping software and data analysis.
