The Grande Spirit Foundation seeks a dedicated and experienced Health & Safety Coordinator to lead our Health and Safety Certificate of Recognition (“COR”) program. This exciting position is crucial for maintaining a safe and healthy environment for our employees and clients across all Grande Spirit Foundation locations.
This successful candidate will be responsible for developing, implementing, and maintaining health and safety initiatives, providing essential training, and ensuring compliance with all legislative requirements. Excellent communication skills are crucial to foster positive relationships across the organization.
What You'll Do:
• Lead Safety Initiatives: Initiate, promote, implement, and maintain health and safety projects and initiatives.
• Program Administration: Monitor, update, and communicate the Grande Spirit Foundation's Health and Safety program
• Ensure Compliance: Monitor safety matters, recommend corrective actions, and ensure compliance with all legislative requirements (e.g. WHMIS, First Aid Responder, Workplace Safety & Health Committee).
• Deliver Training: Conduct safety orientation meetings and ongoing training for employees and visitors.
• Joint Health & Safety Committee: Lead the committee, prepare and distribute Joint Health & Safety Committee agendas, minutes, and action items.
• Maintain Records: Oversee the maintenance of all safety and health-related training records.
• Incident Response: Thoroughly investigate accidents, respond appropriately, and provide communication, training, and follow-ups.
• Report & Analyze: Provide regular reports to the Director, including safety statistics, analytics, and project milestones within SiteDocs.
• Hazard Analysis: Coordinate and assist with practical hazard analysis for all work locations, utilizing SiteDocs.
• Audit & Train: Complete Health & Safety Auditor training and act as the organization's internal auditor.
• Annual Reviews: Review and present annual safety statistics
• Procedure Management: Ensure Safe Work Procedures are current and complete for all work locations. Review and update Safety Program elements to reflect legislation and organizational changes
• Promote Safety Culture: Encourage positive employee relations through communication initiatives, coaching, and providing safety information.
What You'll Bring:
• Education:
o Post-secondary education in Business, Occupational Health & Safety, or a related field is preferred.
o A combination of relevant training and experience will also be considered.
• Experience:
o A minimum of three (3) years of experience in an office setting and/or customer service is preferred.
o Proficient knowledge of SiteDocs, SharePoint, Scribe, Canva and Microsoft 365 (Apps)
o Proven experience in facilitating and delivering safety courses to employees.
o Class 5 driver's license and a reliable vehicle for travel to various worksites.
o Clean driver's abstract.
o Clean Vulnerable Sector Criminal Record Check upon hire.
• Attributes: A strategically minded individual with a genuine interest in and empathy for the care of customers/clients.
Work Hours: 8am to 4pm; 7.5-hour shift (75 Hours per Pay Period) Monday to Friday
Compensation: Starting at $30.77/hr. along with Benefits that include Extended Health & Dental Benefits, Life Insurance & Long-Term Disability and Retirement Programs
