32 “But if you love those who love you, what credit is that to you? For even sinners love those who love them. 33 And if you do good to those who do good to you, what credit is that to you? For even sinners do the same. 34 And if you lend to those from whom you hope to receive back, what credit is that to you? For even sinners lend to sinners to receive as much back. 35 But love your enemies, do good, and lend, [a]hoping for nothing in return; and your reward will be great, and you will be sons of the Most High. For He is kind to the unthankful and evil. 36 Therefore be merciful, just as your Father also is merciful

In Luke 6:32-36, Jesus challenges us to go above and beyond in their relationships. Jesus states that loving those who love us, doing good to those who are good to us, and lending to those who will repay, are infact not actions of genuine faith or true love, as even sinners do these things. Instead, Jesus encourages us to love our enemies, do good to them, and lend without expecting repayment are all trates of a true follower of the Lord. This selfless love, according to Jesus, is a mark of being a child of the Most High, as God himself is merciful to the ungrateful and wicked. The final verse, "Be merciful, just as your Father is merciful," underscores the importance of mirroring God's compassion and forgiveness in our interactions with others.
