MEDICAL OFFICE ASSISTANT - EAST AIRDRIE MEDICAL CLINIC

Dynamic new clinic is looking for a dependable full time medical office assistant for a clinic opening July 2, 2024.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES-defined but not limited to the following:
 Answers the telephone, schedules and confirms medical appointments, greets patients and receives and communicates messages.
 Verifies patient information by interviewing patient; recording medical history; confirming purpose of visit.
 Prepares patients for examination by performing preliminary physical tests; taking blood pressure, weight height; reporting patient history summary.
 Secures patient information.
 Uses EMR software and other computer applications to book appointments or prepare reports, invoices, financial statements, letters, case histories and medical records.
 Interviews patients to complete intake forms or other documents, and/or helps patients complete health history forms.
 Completes insurance and other claim forms.
 Set up and maintains records management systems including classifying and coding electronic and hardcopy files.
 Performs other clerical and administrative functions as required (e.g. order and maintain an inventory of supplies).
 Processes payments, bank documents and accounts receivables.
 Operates sophisticated office equipment such as voice mail messaging systems and document scanners.
 keeps examination areas clean, orderly and stocked with supplies.

 Excellent oral and written communication skills.
 Good organizational and time management skills.
 Ability to maintain accuracy while multi-tasking or working under pressure.
 A mature attitude toward the human body, wellness and disease processes.
 Ability to follow directions closely and accurately.
 Ability to establish a professional rapport with and instill confidence in patients.
 Ability to deal effectively with the difficult behaviours sometimes exhibited by people in distress.
 Ability to work independently or as part of a team.

QUALIFICATIONS
• Medical office assistant diploma from SAIT or Bow Valley College or equivalent
• 2 years clinical experience
• Electronic medical records experience
• Accuro EMR experience is an asset.
