Responsibilities

What you will be doing…

  • The Coordinator, Campus Housing, will be required to live on site year-round and must be able to work flexible hours in office, on-call and within the building as needed. An apartment will be provided, in addition to salary.
  • Reporting on campus to the Manager of Student Services and functionally to the Manager of Housing & Student Life, you will play a key role in the campus implementation of NSCC's Campus Housing Operational Plan. You will have oversight of daily Campus Housing operations, Campus Housing community development and administrative duties/reporting. This will include mentorship and guidance for six Campus Housing Assistants, as they help to create a safe and inclusive community environment.
  • Working with the provincial Campus Housing staff team, you will ensure operational consistency and service continuity. On campus, you will work with others on the Student Services team, the Business Office, the Facilities Department, and the Student Association to provide a wide range of activities, services and supports to enhance the quality of the student campus housing experience. During the summer months, you will provide oversight to our conference/guest services and will work with the campus on marketing and promotion of this resource.

Qualifications

Qualifications and Occupational Experience:

  • The minimum educational qualification for this position is an undergraduate university degree in Business Administration, Management, or Social Sciences (considered an asset).
  • You have a minimum of 2 years (full-time equivalent) of recent and related occupational experience, which includes experience in post-secondary Campus Housing operations/management and community (student housing) program development.
  • Occupational experience in areas such as on-campus housing hall supervision, emergency crisis response/management, training and mentorship of student staff, and non-academic student conduct.
  • You are familiar with and comfortable using computer applications such as the Microsoft Office Suite, E-mail, SharePoint, and Microsoft Teams.
  • You are comfortable working in a digital environment; you take responsibility for acquiring knowledge about advancing technology; and you are committed to using technology in advancing your work
  • You have experience developing and delivering Campus Housing programs and events, as well as student focused training that fosters inclusion and a respect for diversity.
  • Previous support of summer conference/guest services would be considered an asset as a supplement to campus housing experience.
  • You must also provide a Criminal Record Check, including a Vulnerable Sector Search.
  • Certification in the following are considered assets: Mental Health First Aid, ASIST Training, First Aid/CPR, Bystander Intervention Training, Crisis Response Training, Human Rights/Equity Training.

  • You possess excellent coordination skills specifically related to Campus Housing administration, such as the ability to process and allocate rooms, manage active waitlists, prepare duty schedules, etc)
  • You have proven records and information management skills and abilities specifically related to student conduct documentation and confidentiality standards
  • You have strong conflict resolution skills, the ability to problem-solve, and can judge when it's necessary to seek support
  • You are self-motivated and able to work independently with minimal supervision
